Aton Edwards speaks at the Process Compound!

On Sunday, July 9th, a burgeoning collective of urban survivalists and enthusiasts gathered at the Process/Feral House compound to listen to PREPAREDNESS NOW! author Aton Edwards speak about self-reliant living in Los Angeles, also known as (let's not pussyfoot around here) Earthquake Central.

Underneath the Freemasonic "G" glass painting above are Erik Knutzen and his wife, Kelly Coyne. Erik works with the Center for Land Use Interpretation in Los Angeles. Erik and Kelly recently contributed to our Process preparedness blog about their urban parkway garden, and have started their own Survive LA blog, which must be seen to be appreciated (whooda thunk thong underwear could be one of your most versatile survival tools?). For some, the self-reliant mindset is psychedelic: it enhances an awareness of one's surroundings, local and global, and deepens one's connection to the natural world and primal impulses.

About her dress, St. Germaine says: "The dress is a Tibetan design that I had made in Katmandu. It is definitely survivalist chic. You would see women tending cattle in the Nepal mountains in these. The fabric is a magical blend of I think rayon and silk (that I've yet to find in the states) that never wrinkles. It is very functional and comfortable."

Comedienne Melinda Ahrens is serious when it comes to respirators.
