People immigrate for many reasons-retirees go looking for a milder climate and an economy where the dollar goes further; youth travels for adventure, educational opportunities, and encounters with new people and cultures. Entrepreneurs, meanwhile, seek new markets and business ventures. Then there are people returning to an ancestral homeland or following a loved one; others are leaving for political or social reasons. Freelance writer Ehrman treats all of the above and more in this second volume in the "Process Self-Reliance" series (the first is Aton Edward's Preparedness Now!: An Emergency Survival Guide for Civilians and Their Families). Sections cover all the major reasons to immigrate and the various ways to do so. Pros and cons of each are weighed and compared. In the many sidebars, expatriots describe their reasons for going and experiences in their new homes.

The largest part of the book is a country-by-country breakdown based on climate, economy,political structure, and social attitudes (e.g., toward drugs, homosexuality, women). There is an extensive listing of web sources in the back-handy, since regulations can change so quickly.
